Abortion

Women may face an unplanned pregnancy at some time in their lives. Depending on her beliefs and sources, a woman may choose to continue her pregnancy and give birth to her baby or terminate this pregnancy during this period. Terminating a pregnancy at any age is an emotional and at the same time difficult decision for a woman. However, if a woman has made this decision, it will be correct to go to a gynecologist that she can trust for this procedure and that the abortion (termination of pregnancy) is performed by this physician.
There are legal regulations regarding abortion and pregnancy termination in our country. According to this, the uterus can be evacuated at the request of the pregnant woman, in other words, abortion can be performed until the end of the tenth week of pregnancy, unless there is a medical problem in terms of the mother's health. But

A woman may have different reasons for having an abortion:

  • If the pregnancy has not been planned beforehand,
  • If pregnancy threatens the mother's life,
  • If the pregnancy is the result of a forensic event (rape),
  • If the unborn baby has some genetic disorder.

What should you do to terminate your unwanted pregnancy?
There are many things to consider before having an abortion. If a woman has decided that having an abortion is the best choice for her, then she should go to an obstetrician with whom she feels comfortable and trust, and have it done in a hospital setting.

How is an abortion applied?
You have decided to have an abortion and entrust yourself to an obstetrician. The next process is a very short process. Before the procedure, a 6-hour hunger and thirst is needed, nothing should be taken orally. Because a light general anesthesia (which will give you a very deep sleep) is given by an anesthesiologist for the curettage procedure. This is a very comfortable and safe condition for patients. This process is now performed by vacuum method through thin soft sterile tubes called cannula to be inserted into the uterus. This process takes between 5-15 minutes depending on the physiological condition of the patient. After this procedure, the patient is awakened and returned to her normal life. All these processes take approximately 25-30 minutes.
However, due to anesthesia, the following issues will need to be considered.
• After you are discharged, you can carry out your daily activities, but it is recommended that you do not use any tools or do anything that requires attention for the first 12 hours.
• You should use antibiotics and medicines (painkillers, etc.) to be given regularly as prescribed by your doctor.
• You should not have intercourse, do any heavy exercise or swim in the pool until your next checkup.
